HUNI Quarterly Meeting held Aug 7th

HUNI's third quarter meeting for historic neighborhood representatives and individual members was held on Thursday, August 7th from 5:30-7:30pm in the Gallery at Indiana Landmarks, 1201 Central Avenue, Indianapolis 46202.

The Guest Speaker will be Katy Brett, the Executive Director of Renew Indianapolis.  Renew Indianapolis is a nonprofit community land bank, seeking to return vacant and abandoned properties to reuse.  Founded in 2010, Renew Indianapolis has worked to support changes to state law that would facilitate successful land banking in Indianapolis.  In the absence of these reforms, Renew Indianapolis hired Ms. Brett to develop opportunities to work within the context of the existing laws to redevelop vacant and abandoned properties.  Initially this work will consist primarily of a partnership with the City of Indianapolis to find redevelopment partners for properties in the City’s current land bank.

City-County Councillor Jeff Miller will present information on current City Council issues that are important to historic neighborhoods and neighborhood representatives will share highlights on issues and events going on in their areas.
