Deputy Mayor for Community Development Jeff Bennett

Garfield Park--Welcomes HUNI's Annual Meeting & Elections

Deputy Mayor Jeff Bennett Featured Speaker

Garfield Park--HUNI's newest neighborhood member--gratiously hosted HUNI's 36th annual meeting on February 6th at the Garfield Park Art Center. The meeting featured the passing of the gavel from Lockerbie's Marjorie Kienle to St Joseph's Garry Chilluffo. Glenn Blackwood (Fletcher Place) was elected Vice President and individual member Sharon Butsch Freeland agreed to continue in the essential role of secretary. Indianapolis  Deputy Mayor for Community Development Jeff Bennett provided an overview of important themes the Mayor's Office hopes to tackle including restructuring and coordinating city departments to better serve neighborhoods, aiming to increase ease of interaction, break down bureaucratic silos, and improve customer service. Bennett joined the Hogsett administration with two decades of experience working in and with neighborhoods and Indiana nonprofit organizations.

Several neighborhoods brought their 2016 dues of $15. (Checks made payable to Indiana Landmarks with HUNI in the memo line.) Those who still need to pay should mail their check to the attention of Chad Lethig at Indiana Landmarks, 1201 N. Central Avenue (46202).
