Join the James Whitcomb Riley Museum home and the Lockerbie Neighborhood for a series of fun, exciting, and entertaining events over the summer of 2024!
Lockerbie’s Garden Party

Join in on the Grounds of the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home anytime between 11am – 5pm. This is a dog and family friendly event with free admission. The main program for the event is the Plein Air Painting of the historic homes and gardens in Lockerbie Square and surrounding historic neighborhoods - guests can watch artists paint home and gardens live, purchase paintings, shop with vendors, and enjoy refreshments on the JWR Lawn - all with your pup! The event will also feature a small outdoor market with vendors with pet supplies, dog activities; caricature artist capturing dogs and their owners; plein air artists painting homes and gardens in historic downtown neighborhoods in Indianapolis, sales of these paintings, and refreshments.

Nights on Lockerbie Concert Series
May–October, 2024
Relax, grab a drink, and enjoy live music on the lawn of the JWR Museum Home as part of our family friendly outdoor concert series! Bring your own chairs or blankets to relax on and snacks to enjoy. Beverages from our partners Tito’s and Sun King will be available for purchase.

Summer Camps
June–July, 2024
They welcome Professor Watermelon back with his annual two sessions of Creative Writing Summer Camps that sell-out. And they introduce two additional kids camps for campers of different ages! Professor Watermelon invites younger kids to his Storytime Explorers Camp, and Mister Smart invites students who love to draw and create stories to our first Comic Creators Camp. Registrations are required.
